Proximity

No matter how much we have achieved in life in the eyes of our fellow human beings. Status and social recognition does not change the fact that without human warmth, closeness and love life is empty and meaningless. Many people who have mounted the social Mount Everest suffer from isolation, or are responsible for being a burden on their environment because they follow their selfishness without regard to the needs of other's.

Human proximity is healthful. Touches are the tangible proximity. We see the power of touch for example when babies get no skin contact. They die easily. Thus human proximity might be a first aid for a senseless and empty life.

In order to accept or give help, I have to take my feelings seriously and appreciate them. Allow yourself to be there, simply to be with someone and share a moment.

Proximity is the hello on the street. Human proximity is ubiquitous in everyday life, if we allow it. With each touch, we tear down a wall, we give a lonely soul company, we donate the feeling of connectedness. The mystery of touch and proximity is that people begin to love themselves.

Proximity is for me and should be for us all a real heart's desire.

Hi Ray,

I absolutely agree with you. I'm a "touch" person. My kids and I always hug and cuddle. Even friends at work are subjected to my hugs..lol... The human touch is therapeutic. Researches have proven this. It also gives both persons the feeling of warmth and belongingness.

Thanks for a very significant post.
Happy blogging.
