Four wise men stood at the grave of a master. On the gravestone was the question: What is the essence of man?
"The man consist of such a high percentage of water, that the essence of his nature must be water," claimed one of the wise men.
"But no," replied the second. "By getting older the person takes on weight. He stores fat tissue. His essence is the fat. For only the essence will prevail over the years, "claimed a second wise man.
"No ", replied the third wise man waving his hand, "the essence of man is air. His soul is not in the water, nor in the fat or elsewhere in the body, his essence is air. "
Finally the fourth wise man contradicted. "And the mummies, is not what lasts the longest bones and bones? Man's essence is hard as stone. "
The wise men stood in a circle and everyone waited to be given credit.
Then the spirit of the master rose of the grave and spoke. "The essence of man is water, air, bone and fat alike. The man flows like water through his life, hoards inventories, he bears them on his bones wandering around in the end everything dissolves into air. Man's essence is - the change, he will create new order after new order.
Four wise men stood at the grave of te master and nodded. Then they went off each of them in a different direction than the one from which he had come.

What a great story. It indicates for me that man sometimes becomes his environment instead of his heart and love for others. Thanks Helen

Woderful story, rainer!
change is the expression, the impermanent. Changeless is the self, the essence.
