Anyone who has read Carlos Castaneda, has perhaps learnt of the concept of erasing the personal history. Put in my words I would understand that who maintains his personal history, takes himself, his ego too important and remains a prisoner of erroneous views about himself. Regarding to this a seeker should strive to get rid of his personal history.
Is it allowed for a seeker a to have personal history, or is otherwise the higher knowledge of the esoteric denied to him?
When I read Castaneda, then I meet at every turn of the page the character pattern of a mysterious man. These people create during their lives a mask, which they present to other people as their true ego. Most masks are very dear masks, or masks of very competent people. Mysterious men need to learn to let go of this mask and find the place inside, where their true feelings and their true intentions abide. A mysterious man may erase his personal history if he exaggerated the use of lies , if his lying has become a limiting habit that a fresh start is needed.
All other human characters are provided with direct access to their feelings and their intentions. For them, there is no need of erasing anything. Castaneda has not reflected this context because he didn't want to acknowledge his nature. Defiant he delivers his idea of a shaman student in millions of books and would like have the people to follow like the lemmings the idea of a mysterious man. Sorry Carlito, knowledge is found by the others and you always hated it, didn't you?
The personal history is the history of personal learning. It is for each human being different and wonderful and we do indulge in a feeling of importance, if we are aware of our progress, our changes and of our way. If you meet Buddha on the way, give him in a friendly way a kick into the butt.

800 To 600 Before Christ, The Upanishads
800 to around 600 BC must have been a fertile period on Earth for spiritual insights, because seer in India make great progress in the understanding of the human soul. They recognize e.g. Âtman and Brahman. Major texts of the Upanishads provided on the experience of the seeker.
Some will be taught as secret others will be publicly discussed.
The younger the Upanishads are, the more concepts of the Indian caste system are emerging. For example the consequences of the deeds of one life will occur in a next life. Who is evil can be reborn as an animal.
How long might it take before an insight which may free the people becomes changed by a sort of belief-establishment and will be so interpreted that it serves the state.
Should I believe:
We all have a divine soul, but who is in need of social welfare that refers to evil deeds of a previous life? And a rich politicians who enforces health reforms has a good old soul? A reform that results in keeping poor people of the medical practice, because for our poor people a 10 Euro fee for accessing the physician is much money. Thus doctors are increasingly confronted with rotten bodies, because people saved money at the disadvantage of their health?
No!
State interests and the search for happiness and soul are never companions on the same way, and each insight is diluted, it is only a matter of time, or...?

What if Hitler still lived...?
If Hitler were still alive, then our lives (in Germany) would be significantly different. There would be a probability of persecution, Hitler would every day lure us to to pursue minorities or to be counted to minorities ourselves.
Hitler would use his apparatus to delude us, telling us that the origin of the people is the reason decides whether they are inferior or superior. He would agitate us against foreigners. He would demand of us to denounce neighbors, parents and friends - to notify the Gestapo.
In Jonestown, where a spectacular mass(suicide) murder in history ocurred, cult members were invited to report every person that wanted to leave Jonestown. This is just one example that tyrants over life and death grow quickly again when one is gone. But even on a small scale, there are tyrants, that threat people with death, think of the phenomenon of aggressive stalker.
If Hitler was still alive .. I am not sure, but I think I would leave the country soon. Like many Germans who like to travel, I can imagine to live in other countries. On Chakrablog you can read today of someone who will be living in Chile during the winter.
I have observed repeatedly that at certain points in my life of a voice occurs in my mind. The voice is clear and almost uninvolved, it always brings a message that it is now time to do.. . The feeling for this moment is so unique that I can tell this voice eysily apart from other thoughts or impulses. I always followed her and she took me on the right path until today. Whether this voice would advise me to go? I do not know.
